About Global Divide
WHO WE ARE
Our Story
Global Divide was born from a simple but troubling observation: the voices shaping global policy rarely reflect the communities most affected by those policies.
Our founder saw this first-hand while working in international policy spaces: in UN meetings, the majority of NGO interventions came from well resourced organisations in the Global North, while grassroots groups from Africa, Latin America, and South Asia were absent, not because they lacked ideas or urgency, but because they lacked access.
Today, this gap is widening. Over 60% of grassroots NGOs in the Global South report scaling back or ending their international advocacy due to donor funding withdrawals.
From the start, Global Divide was built on three intertwined commitments: producing research grounded in lived Global South experience rather than distant observation; expert representation of Global South NGOs in Geneva, New York, and Vienna; and hands-on guidance to equip less resourced organisations to navigate the procedural and political terrain of international institutions.
The vast majority of our policy consultants in these hubs are themselves from the Global South or of Global South descent, bringing both academic and professional expertise across geopolitical regions and an unshakable commitment to preserving grassroots narratives. Across all our services, from written submissions to international policy representations, collaboration is central, ensuring that the authentic voice of Southern civil society remains intact and unfiltered.
In an era of shrinking donor funding and widening advocacy gaps, our model not only bridges the divide but actively shifts the balance of power towards locally embedded, community led leadership. We believe that when Southern expertise sets the agenda, backed by credible research, direct access, and peer to peer solidarity, global policy becomes more equitable, more effective, and truly representative of those with the most at stake.
Our Name
Global Divide could have simply carried the name of its founders, as many consultancy firms do, or chosen a hopeful title like “Global Bridges.” Instead, we felt it was important that our name reflect the reality we set out to change: the deep inequalities in access and influence between the Global North and South. By naming the divide itself, we acknowledge the challenge while affirming our commitment to help close it through research, representation, and partnerships.

About Global Divide
Global Divide is an international policy consultancy dedicated to bridging the gap between Global South civil society and international policymaking arenas. While the Global South is home to the majority of the world’s population, its NGOs remain structurally underrepresented at the United Nations and related multilateral bodies. Our mission is to amplify grassroots voices and ensure Global South realities shape global agendas. We achieve this through three interlinked service “Bands”:
- Band A – Think Tank: Research and policy analysis rooted in Global South lived experience.
- Band B – Representation: Strategic representation for NGOs at the UN in Geneva, New York, and Vienna.
- Band C – NGO Support: Guidance, incubation, and coalition-building for emerging Global South NGOs.
These interconnected services allow us to translate grassroots priorities into international influence, making Global Divide a unique platform for justice-oriented advocacy
About the Consultancy Role
Global Divide invites applications from consultants to support our Band B-1 representation service in Geneva. Consultancy opportunities are available for professionals with policy expertise and strong oral advocacy skills. Consultants will provide representation and advocacy services to ensure that the perspectives of Global South NGOs are carried into UN forums, including the Human Rights Council and Treaty Bodies.
Note on eligibility: Under current Swiss legal frameworks, Global Divide cannot sponsor work permits. For this consultancy, only professionals who already hold the right to live and work in Switzerland will be considered. We state this with regret, while continuing through our work to advocate for fairer and more inclusive global labour and governance frameworks.
