Next Steps and Ongoing Engagement
The Global South Access Summit convened civil society organisations across regions to reflect on structural barriers to participation in United Nations and international policy processes.
Building on the discussions, this page outlines the next phase of engagement, including continued coordination, visibility of NGO perspectives, and the development of a collective advocacy output.
1. Key Messages from Participating NGOs
Throughout the Summit, organisations shared insights and statements reflecting their experiences engaging with global policy spaces.
These perspectives highlight recurring challenges including:
- Financial and travel constraints
- Visa and mobility barriers
- Unequal access to speaking opportunities
- Limitations in coalition coordination
Selected statements from NGOs are featured below.
2. Summary and Advocacy Report
A consolidated Summary and Advocacy Report will be developed to reflect:
- Key barriers identified across regions
- Priority actions proposed by participants
- Longer term structural reform recommendations
This report will serve as a basis for continued engagement with UN mechanisms and stakeholders.
Find the report here.
3. Global South Access Working Group
Global Divide is currently exploring the structure of this initiative and welcomes expressions of interest from NGOs that may wish to play a role in helping steer the Working Group, with Global Divide providing guidance and support. Organisations from across the Global South will be invited to join.
This platform will support ongoing coordination among participating organisations, strengthen collective advocacy efforts, and facilitate information sharing on engagement opportunities within UN processes.
4. Continued Coordination
To sustain engagement beyond the Summit, the following channels will be used:
- Periodic updates and newsletters
- Virtual coordination group
- Shared resource materials and documentation
- Follow up virtual convenings
These mechanisms aim to ensure that collaboration remains continuous, practical, and action oriented.
5. Stay Engaged
We encourage all participating organisations to remain engaged as this initiative progresses.
