Band B-2

Representation before the Committee of NGOs (for NGOs Awaiting Accreditation)

The UN Committee on NGOs, a 19-member intergovernmental body, meets twice a year in January and May to evaluate applications for accreditation at the UN. NGOs may send up to two representatives to attend. While attendance is optional and all related expenses must be borne by the organisation itself, NGOs that attend benefit from the opportunity to respond to the Committee’s questions in real time, significantly increasing the likelihood of timely approval.

Conversely, NGOs unable to attend in person are often disadvantaged, facing long delays sometimes stretching into years due to deferrals, contributing to a growing backlog of pending applications at the Committee stage.

In Band B-2, Global Divide offers physical representation for NGOs unable to attend the Committee hearings. This ensures that applications are processed more efficiently and that access to global policymaking spaces is not hampered by geographic or financial limitations.
