Chathurya Wanniarachchi is a Senior Research Consultant and Specialist on Intersectional Minorities at Global Divide, where she works at the intersection of climate, gender, and racial justice through policy strategy, research, and advocacy. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and brings a multidisciplinary approach to human rights consulting, combining legal analysis with grassroots mobilisation and international engagement.
She is also the Founder and Director of Advocacy at the Climate Intelligence Network, a nonprofit working at the intersection of environmental education, data-driven community conservation, and climate policy in the Global South.
Her research and advocacy span diverse themes, including the human rights and humanitarian law impacts of neocolonialism, the legal invisibility of climate-displaced populations, and the intersection of caste, gender, and digital rights. She has supported underrepresented communities in seeking recognition and redress before international bodies such as the UN Human Rights Council, treaty mechanisms, and special procedures. Her contributions include stakeholder engagement strategies, youth advocacy training, and narrative development for ethical lobbying at the international level.
Chathurya has collaborated with civil society and philanthropic organisations to advance rights-based approaches to climate justice, transitional justice, and gender equity. As a legal intern with the Office on Missing Persons in Sri Lanka (2024) and a consultant for regional advocacy groups, she has contributed to survivor-centred justice initiatives and international reporting. Through the Climate Intelligence Network (2025), she leads campaigns and youth activism programs, bridging legal advocacy with intersectional, data-led environmental action. Her current work focuses on strengthening South–South solidarity and creating policy frameworks rooted in equity, ethics, and accountability.
